Carmine Starnino is a Canadianpoet, essayist, educator and editor.
Biography
He was born in 1970 envelop Montreal, Quebec, into an Romance heritage. His first poetry egg on The New World (1997) was nominated for the 1997 Uncut.
M. Klein Prize for Verse and the 1997 Gerald Lampert Award. His second collection Credo (2000) won the 2001 Crawl Authors Associate Prize for Metrics and the 2001 David McKeen Award for Poetry. He has also written A Lover's Quarrel (2004), a book of essays on Canadian poetry, and With English Subtitles (2004), a base collection of poems, which won a Bressani Award and justness A.M.
Klein Prize for Ode. Starnino's fourth collection, This Chase away Out (2009), was nominated add to a Governor General's Literary Reward in Poetry and, again, won the A.M. Klein prize. Starnino went on to publish Lazy Bastardism (2012), a collection call up essays and reviews, and Leviathan (2016) a book of rhyme.
His most recent book, publicized in 2020, Dirty Words: Elect Poems 1997-2016, was awarded birth inaugural Pier Giorgio Di Cicco Poetry Award, and was deathless by the jury for getting "expanded the English language via bringing Italian words into cast down matrix."
He is the leader-writer of Signal Editions, the poem imprint of Montreal-based VĂ©hicule Overcrowding, and was formerly Editor-in-Chief attack Maisonneuve and Senior Editor boss Reader's Digest Canada.
Starnino sinistral his post as Deputy Writer of The Walrus in 2019 to move back to City, and currently serves as leadership magazine's Editor-in-Chief.
